Dealing with the stress of moving...

Hi!

Moving is no fun. And it is even worse that I miss Josh, who is already in Austin. There is packing, shipping, selling, throwing things out, cleaning. Another 12 days of this and then unpacking, more cleaning and organizing.

Most of the stress has come from trying to sell things and having it not go as planned. It is breeding a lot of bad emotions towards Sao Paulo. However, there have been some very kind souls along the way and I am very grateful for them!

Today was rough with leaving work early to wait for someone who was very happy to just to make me wait. After waiting, then driving through rush hour Sao Paulo traffic (in the rain),  I decided I needed a DIY break from all this madness. (okay - I will admit that not having that pesky distraction called TV helps me find time for all kinds of DIY breaks)

So, inspired by the pretty collars for Spring and Summer , in particular Louis Vuitton's, as seen here and here, I used a broken necklace and an old shirt that wasn't working anymore.

I am pretty happy with the result. And got two outfits out of it!

Dress: by me
Shirt: Banana Republic
Jeans: Joes
Shoes: Corello (very old)

Let me know what you think!

Running wild

Hi!

This weekend was amazing! I went to visit my family in Florianopolis and ran the half-marathon with my brother Marcelo. The weather was perferct (for running) - not too hot, not too cold, cloudy - and the vibe was great.

Plus, we had the best cheerleaders!

Pants: Lululemon
T-shirt: Nike
Bra: Lululemon - Tata-tamer - Love it!
Shoes: Asics

I also got to go through my mom's old jewelry drawer, to find some pieces that were forgotten but are now really trendy. We also created a a few new ones. Here are a few of the pieces. I hope you like them!

Night out on the town - Theater

Hi!

Last week, my grandmother was in town and called me (somewhat short notice) saying that we should hang out and go see a play.

I found this great Brazilian production of Fiddler on the Roof for us to go see. If you are in Sao Paulo, I strongly recommend it! Violinista no Telhado

I took this opportunity to try out the fake short hair I saw on Julia Petit's show. The inspiration? My beautiful grandmother!

And here what I look like (can you see the resemblance?)

 Jacket: Zara
Pants: Banana Republic
Shirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Corello
Necklace: BCBG
Hairpins: BCBG

For the outfit, I chose really simple and classic menswear inspired clothes and this jacket with a huge pleated portrait collar.

Let me know what you think!

Love,

Sam

Nice Saturday outfit - for a nice Saturday

Hi,

One of the steps in preparing to move has been selling everything we own. Well, not actually everything (not the clothes!), but appliances, furniture, and the TV. Saturday morning, the TV was finally picked up, which means I am stuck with only the internet for the next month or so.

This means, no excuses on working on the blog or sewing projects!

After the TV was gone, I managed to have a pretty fun Saturday:
Shopping at 25 de marco (SP) for new accessories. This is one crazy street in Sao Paulo, where you can buy great fabric, jewelry, and other stuff, at very accessible prices. It is really crowded and somewhat dangerous, but you can find some great things, if you are willing to brave the crowds. No, I didn't take my camera, but you can see what it looks like here.

Afterwards, tea and cupcakes from Made by Nina (if you are in Sao Paulo and around Moema, I highly recommend Made By Nina. It is cute and it is good)

Later, a haircut, finally at a place that was not super expensive and with a guy who did a good job AND offered me  Parisian Chic to read while doing my hair.
Here is an outfit with the new clutch and scarf. The other goodies will be saved for later, as well as the new 'do.
easy weekend look

Cardigan - Banana Republic
Scarf - no brand - bought at 25 de marco

Cobalt Blue Shoes - Doing it Yourself

Hi,
After the very successful attempt with shoes + spray paint and all the blue accessories becoming the next trend to follow, I decided to go through my pile of clothes to give away and fire away the spray can once more.

I had these great suede shoes, that had some bad stains and I was told they couldn't be fixed. I also picked a purse that was not working.

 The I cleaned them ...
 And wrapped with tape.
Even the inside of the shoes...
 Then started painting.

After the first coat, I realized it would take several more.

But the end result is a pair of bright blue shoes and a nice purse.

 Check out the flowing hair!
